The New Paper (Wednesday, 4 Oct 2006) Non-SingNet broadband users also face online gaming lag
I REFER to Mr Ong Kian Seng's letter, "SingNet broadband users face gaming glitch" (The New Paper, 21 Sep). SingNet understands the needs of online gaming enthusiasts, especially for their demand for low latency. Hence, SingNet introduced PingPower, which enables local gamers to access game servers and enjoy as low as a 10-millisecond latency when they play online games hosted by PingPower. Since its launch in July this year, we have received very positive feedback from gamers. Many factors affect online gaming performance, including the bandwidth between the game server and the party providing the hosting service, as well as the game server capacity. Contrary to the headline given to Mr Ong's letter,we understand that non-SingNet gamers have also experienced lags while playing the popular online game MapleStory, which is not hosted with SingNet.For the benefit of the gaming community, we hope that MapleStory's publisher, Asiasoft, can quickly resolve this issue with its hosting service provider. SingNet looks forward to assisting them to enhance our gamers' experience.

And this is from Starhub
We refer to the letter by SingTel's Mr Chia Boon Chong, "Non SingNet broadband users also face online gaming lag" (4 Oct) in response to the feedback by SingNet subscriber Mr Ong Kian Seng, "SingNet broadband users face gaming glitch" (21 Sep), on accessing MapleStory. Asiasoft, as a leading online game publisher, has invested significantly in infrastructure and bandwidth to provide players with the best gaming experience. With StarHub as the network service provider, we ensure that players enjoy an optimised gaming environment via their Internet service providers (ISPs) locally and regionally. Asiasoft has also received some feedback regarding SingNet's performance while accessing MapleStory over the past two months. We have worked extensively to resolve this issue, but are unable to identify any problem areas within our internal infrastructure. To assist, Starhub, on behalf of Asiasoft, is keen to work with SingNet to identify the root cause of the matter. We thank Mr Ong for his feedback and will cotinue to look into this matter.
